What Our Learners Have To Say

Our impact: in the words of our learners

  • It’s a great honor to be part of PAY. I benefit a lot from PAY. I get to travel around a lot mainly for cycling races and in terms of academics, I get to practice a lot mainly English and Mathematics. On Fridays, we have life skills sessions that teach us to make wise decisions in life. Not to mention the fact that this is all free of charge. A big shout out to PAY volunteers, staff and sponsors. • PAY means a second chance in life to me. PAY gave me an opportunity to go back to school and the chance to guide me to follow my dream of studying computer science. Academics at PAY are very good because the teachers at PAY focus on the individual and his/ her capability, and work with you to improve your academics. I just want to add that PAY needs more teachers and space for learning.

To me, soccer means a lot, I play soccer as it is fun especially when my team wins but as a captain I also have to be there for my team and to make them smile even though we lose, and if there is any problem, I have I have to solve it. Playing soccer for PAY was one of my dreams, and it actually came true and I am really grateful for it.

I'm a girl who is not shy who has confidence in everything. I do like to talk a lot and like meeting new people. I love soccer more than anything in my life and it’s the only thing that makes me happy. I love playing for PAY because it builds the ambition in me to chase after my dreams. PAY is like home to me, it is a place where I find peace of mind and a place where I feel safe and I think there is no other center like PAY where there is a lot of love and people you can rely on.

Playing soccer for the PAY Girls Team has helped me a lot to improve my soccer skills and gave me the opportunity to know more people. It helped me become more open minded towards everything. It means a lot to me because I got an opportunity to play in a soccer team and one day I might make it to the National Team.

PAY means a lot to me. I learn a lot during the week and get more knowledge and information. Before I came to PAY I was bad in Mathematics, and now I'm one of the best. I like sports because we gain more experience when we play against other teams. I am soon to be a product of PAY as I am only left with 2 years to complete school.Brighten Mabakeng, Grade 10, Windhoek High School

PAY is like home to me. PAY is a fun place, everyone is loving and caring. It is a friendly environment. All your friends have a purpose in life and will influence you in a good way. They are all serious with their school work and work hard. It makes you work hard because you don’t want to be left behind. If you are left behind, they help you to catch up. They also have endless conversations with you about your school work which push you to know your work in order for you to fit in. PAY is a place I was dreaming about to join and improve my academics.

In academics, I get help with different kinds of subjects, especially English and Mathematics. PAY provides lifeskill in which you discuss your problems. PAY gives fair chance to all learners which is really what I wanted in my life. Cycling has really encouraged me a lot, I never knew what impact it would have in my life.Passana Baisako, Grade 10, Jan Jonker Afrikaner Secondary School

  • PAY means the world to me, because it helps me to study and learns things about life. It helps us learners who can't swim, play soccer, cycle and dance and it also helps us with many subjects such as mathematics, accounting and life skills. It gives us enough time to study for exams and we also make new friends here. PAY is amazing and it really helps us with our education.Warren Kgobetsi, Grade 10, Jan Jonker Secondary School

  • PAY helps me to learn more, and at PAY I learn mathematics and new sports. What I like at PAY is soccer as it helps us stay fit and we have leagues that we play in and it is about teamwork and communication as a team. In lifeskills we learn how to keep our environment clean and how to control your sexual feelings and how to work in groups.Kallie Owoseb Grade 9, Cosmos High School

  • PAY means a lot to me, and im certain it means a lot to my collegues too, because PAY is a home where you learn a lot of new stuff. Academically, PAY provides a wide range of information and a set-up of books that could help you with homework and studying. Sports at PAY is awesome because even if you don’t know how to do something like cycling, they will help you improve. The life skills sessions help you improve in abstaining and knowing new things.Dinno Mwiya, Grade 10. PAY learner
